Qualifications
Minimum two years’ experience and knowledge of DSM-IV-R and the Mental Health Act.

WAGE RATE: $40.24 - $57.68
Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health Services, the Registered Nurse provides outreach services to older adults with behaviours associated with complex and challenging mental health, addictions, dementia or other neurological conditions.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required:
Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
Certification in PIECES, GPA, Montessori Training
Psycho/social and mental status assessment skills and knowledge of psychotropic medication side effects
Demonstrated working knowledge of specialized Geriatric services including: Geriatric Medicine, Psychiatry, Mental Health and Behavioural Supports Ontario Care
Advanced proficiency in computer skills, i.e. Excel, Word
Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy and education services to family members and others significant in the patient’s life
Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers and physicians
2 Years recent experience in Geriatric Assessment and working in a multidisciplinary team

Excellent organizational skills and scheduling abilities
Ability to use critical thinking and problem solve in acute emergent situations
Excellent knowledge of community resources and willingness to learn new concepts and integrate them into practice
