Job description
Overview

We are looking for visionaries, change-makers, and self-starters who want more from their career. Change begins with small decisions to support each other and create inspiring educational experiences for all students, no matter where they are or how they learn. By joining Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, you will have the opportunity to push boundaries, flex creativity, and inspire positive change. This reflects the transformative power of education.

Our core values put the student experience at the center. If you want to shine a light on academic excellence, be empowered to impact the transformation of the Canadian post-secondary education landscape, and work collaboratively across levels, join us.

Who we need

Our Faculty of Behavioral Sciences is seeking a Full Time Professor to teach within our Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) program for the practicum courses and skills-based courses, which include online synchronous components. There will be an orientation and training provided prior to being assigned a teaching schedule.

With an earned doctoral degree in Counselling, Psychology, or related field from a recognized university, registration / certification with an appropriate professional regulatory body or association in your province / jurisdiction (in adherence to relevant provincial regulatory laws), and at least five years in the field of Counselling Psychology or a related profession, you will deliver university courses at the graduate level. You will draw on the most recent research and practices in Canadian counselling and psychology, and demonstrate sensitivity and education in equality, diversity, inclusion and decolonization and its impact on the field and teaching.

This is a remote opportunity with an online delivery platform (Moodle, Brightspace) commencing winter 2025.

Accepting applications from across Canada. Preference will be given to those registered with a Canadian regulatory body.

What’s in it for you
  • A transformative, accessible and flexible higher education environment
  • Working within a team that shares a passion for learning, teaching, and growing
  • Supporting highly motivated and engaged learners
  • An inclusive, supportive, and diverse work environment across our three campus locations
What you will do
  • Teach and facilitate counselling psychology theory and skills courses
  • Foster student success through ongoing support and coaching
  • Manage discussion forums and learning activities through the Brightspace platform
  • Timely mark and provide feedback for all student assessments
  • Respond to student inquiries and concerns
  • Coordinate with Practicum Supervisors to complete Formative and Summative evaluations
  • Facilitate online synchronous activities related to the curriculum
  • Perform administrative tasks related to the course
  • Support strategic program growth and ensure ongoing self-development in the field
You have
  • A PhD in a counselling related field (includes a graduate degree in psychology at the Masters or Doctoral level)
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in counselling, psychology, psychotherapy, or related field
  • Canadian faculty
  • Active clinical practice registration / certification / license with an appropriate professional regulatory body or association in your province / jurisdiction (in adherence to relevant provincial regulatory laws)
  • Teaching experience at graduate level is a strong asset
  • Experience using Moodle online delivery platform is a strong asset
  • Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • An atmosphere that blends an entrepreneurial culture with education. We value innovation and continuously look towards expanding our programming, working with the latest research, tools and solutions. As a private school with government approval, we have the opportunity to do more, stay current and be future-forward.
  • The chance to accelerate your career and disrupt education by responding to needs you see and purposefully challenging the status quo. Everything we do here is about delighting and engaging our employees — and ultimately our students — from mentorship to teaching, from creative outlets to analytical ones.
  • A place where all individuals feel welcomed and can bring their authentic selves. We celebrate diversity and acknowledge that equity may require removing barriers for equity-seeking communities.
  • The opportunity to grow with access to free courses, certifications and programs — up to our Masters\' offerings.
Join us
