Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description:

Looking for a seasoned engineering leader with a proven track record in the delivery of projects in the design and simulation of manufacturing lines.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs, including strength, speed, horsepower, temperature, pressure, and force.
2. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc.
3. Create working and detailed drawings, and bills of materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
4. Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (e.g., OSHA, CE).
5. Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness.
6. Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
7. Communicate design changes and task progress to the Manager, Mechanical Engineering, and supervising designer.
8. Lead the design, development, and implementation of lean manufacturing systems that reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times.
9. Lead the development and implementation of job/workstation designs focusing on ergonomics and operator satisfaction.
10. Lead the application of tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems to improve safety, quality, and cost.
11. Assist in developing and maintaining standard engineering data—layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, productivity metrics, etc.
12. Partner with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing.
13. Perform other duties as needed. (This list is not exhaustive.)
14. Maintain expert-level knowledge of manufacturing processes, cycle time calculation, ergonomics, FMEA, DFM, DFA, and throughput calculation.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of drafting principles.
• Experience in designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts.
• Understanding of pneumatics.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Analytical skills for engineering calculations and design analysis.
• Attention to detail for reviewing drawings and documentation.
• Familiarity with ISO procedures and quality standards.
