Our Asset Management Business Unit is growing. Our Asset Management Business Unit manages the engineering, production operations, liability closures, accounting, land HSE and regulatory oversight of junior to mid-sized E&P companies ranging from 100 to 8,000 BOE per day.
Sproule ERCE is seeking an energetic, self-motivated, and proficient Senior Operations Technician to join our growing Asset Management (AM) team. This role supports Sproule ERCE across multiple clients by managing operations data, production processes, and regulatory compliance. Reporting to the Production Operations Manager, the technician will primarily support field and operational activities. As a key contributor to the team, this role will consult with the Field Superintendents, Foremen, Operators, and Calgary staff routinely.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Production Operations Manager, responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Production Operations
- Support the AM Business Unit in updating and maintaining weekly production reports for clients.
- Assist Project Managers in maintaining regulatory compliance and meeting submission deadlines.
- Maintain and report operational compliance in OneStop and DDS systems, including:
- Surface casing vent flow reporting
- Packer isolation test scheduling and reporting
- Annual pressure surveys
- Directive 60 emissions data collection and submissions
- Well workover notifications and submissions
- Emergency Response Plan (ERP) support and minute-taking
- Maintain current organization charts and contact lists for field and Calgary teams.
- Administration of account access for multiple software platforms.
- Manage records, including well and area files (both electronic and physical formats).
- Support Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) administration and KPI tracking.
- Assist with:
- OneStop and DDS submissions
- Emissions management
- Insurance renewals
- Property tax assessments
- AFE handling
- Master lists for wells, pipelines, and facilities
- Contract administration, filing, and data stewardship
Tools & Platforms
- Familiarity with various cloud-based and client-specific platforms is required. This includes systems for production reporting, maintenance, integrity management, regulatory compliance, schematics, health and safety, and management of change.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in operations or production support roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven ability to identify and improve operational processes.
- Strong collaborative skills to engage field teams, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders professionally.
- A Petroleum Engineering Certificate (or equivalent) is an asset.
- Deep understanding of AER directives, manuals, and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with BC and Saskatchewan regulatory frameworks is beneficial.
- Extensive knowledge of oil and gas production operations, terminology, and practices.
- Experience with pipeline/vessel integrity and maintenance procedures and required documentation.
- Proficient in software platforms including MuddyBoots, ProdMan, AER DDS & OneStop, AbaData, Data Scavenger, Accumap.
- Experience with BCOGC Kermit and/or MER IRIS would be beneficial.
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills, especially in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SharePoint and data management systems is a strong asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
