Job summary

Serpent River First Nation in Ontario seeks an Education Program Coordinator to develop, coordinate, and deliver education programs for children and youth, reporting to the Director of Education.

The role provides oversight of the After School Program, PA Day Programming, and Summer Day Camp, working with Health and Culture to support academic, wellness, and cultural programming; supervises junior staff and aids family and community wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in ECE, Child and Youth Care, Social Services, or related field.
  • Minimum two years’ experience with children and youth.
  • Experience with Indigenous people, organizations and communities.
  • Knowledge of Anishinaabe culture and Seven Grandfather Teachings.
  • Able to organize, coordinate, and facilitate programs and events.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic team environment.
  • Anishinaabemowin language ability is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver meaningful education programming with measurable outcomes.
  • Plan and facilitate After School Program activities including homework, wellness, culture, and Anishinaabemowin.
  • Organize and provide healthy snacks for participants.
  • Develop and lead a Summer Day Camp program.
  • Support family and community programming promoting belonging and wellness.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff during program delivery.
  • Collect program data and support reporting requirements.
  • Assist with program budget planning and monitoring.
  • Ensure participant safety and respond to incidents.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
