Thomas' Circle of Care Inc. is seeking a dedicated Cultural Resource Coordinator to organize and deliver programs that build cultural awareness, strengthen identity, and share traditional teachings for First Nations children and families.

The role reports to the Director of Child Care Services and focuses on ceremonies, cultural practices, trauma-informed support, and community engagement with Elders to support healing and reconciliation.

Qualifications

  • No formal education required; strong knowledge of First Nations culture/history essential.
  • CPR/First Aid required; role-specific training provided.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Experience with children, special needs, and First Nations families.
  • Knowledge of trauma, addictions, and child behavior; language an asset.
  • Strong computer, writing, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates empathy, teamwork, initiative, problem-solving, flexibility.
  • Physically active role; may involve stressful situations & varied hours.
  • Employment subject to a criminal and vulnerable background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provides cultural teachings, storytelling, and guidance to support First Nations children and families.
  • Educates staff on cultural practices, ceremonies, and protocols.
  • Supports children emotional well-being and fosters pride in identity and heritage.
  • Develops and coordinates culturally relevant programs with team and leadership approval.
  • Teaches traditional knowledge (medicines, food, harvesting, preparation).
  • Supports families with emotional guidance and life skills coaching.
  • Promotes cultural and language revitalization through arts, crafts, and teachings.
  • Advocates for children and families and builds relationships with Elders for cultural support.
  • Plans cultural events (e.g., feasts, drumming, celebrations) and ensures documentation, confidentiality, and policy compliance.
  • Performs related duties as required.
