Job summary

Henvey Inlet First Nation is seeking a full-time Education Manager to join our Administration. The Education Manager will monitor student attendance and grades, identify academic problems, and provide counselling to students and families.

They will act as liaison with external institutions for First Nations education policy and manage educational support services. The role requires excellent client relations, interpersonal skills, and the ability to coordinate policies with multiple

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Education, Human Services or related field required
  • Certificate in Career Development and Academic Advising preferred
  • 5+ years previous education/academic counselling experience
  • Knowledge of school board policies, curriculum, compliance regulations and relevant legislation
  • Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, values and history preferred
  • Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with access to a vehicle
  • Current CPIC and First Aid/CPR Level C an asset
  • Strong computer and typing skills
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Present a positive and professional image at all times
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Educational Department questions
  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person
  • Promote good relations with staff, parents, councils and the community
  • Maintain exhaustive student records and filing systems
  • Coordinate accurate office records and electronic databases
  • Prepare and distribute education department correspondence
  • Schedule and facilitate Education Department meetings and appointments
  • Assist with client intake forms and required education-related forms
  • Maintain data for reports using the LMS
  • Develop long-range and short-term department goals
  • Liaise with students, parents, school representatives and bus drivers
  • Coordinate education policy and bus route communication
  • Track attendance, exams and assessment results
  • Oversee the student incentive program and year-end activities
  • Coordinate career fairs and external education events
  • Review and implement Education Department policies and procedures
