Job summary

Maple Lodge Farms in Brampton, ON is seeking a VRT Operator to ensure smooth product flow from the plant through the Variable Retention Time Freezer following company specs.

Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing VRT equipment, collaborating with the Maintenance Supervisor, and ensuring compliance with GMPs and quality standards. Applicants should have food-industry experience and knowledge of CFIA/HACCP.

Qualifications

• Experience in the food industry, preferably in a ready-to-eat environment.
• Knowledge of CFIA regulations, GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
• Knowledge of OHSA and WHMIS.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

• Performs assigned tasks in the VRT department to ensure equipment runs at optimal performance.
• Performs preventative maintenance on VRT equipment and troubleshoots repairs as needed.
• Works with Maintenance Supervisor to provide feedback on equipment performance.
• Sets up equipment to ensure products meet company and customer requirements.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area following GMPs.

Reporting to the VRT Supervisor, the VRT Operator will beresponsible forensuring the consistent flow of product from the plant through the Variable Retention Time Freezer, in accordance with Company specifications.

This is to fill an existing position in the company.

What you will be doing:

• Performs assigned tasks in the designated department to ensure that the equipment is maintained and operates at optimal performance. Performs preventative maintenance on VRT equipment.
• Troubleshoots and repairs equipment when necessary; dismantles, cleans, and reassembles equipment as needed for processing.
• Works closely with Department and Maintenance Supervisor, providing feedback as to how equipment is performing.
• Sets up equipment to ensure that all products manufactured in the department meet Company and customer requirements.
• Maintains equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition, according to GMPs.

a. Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

What you will bring:

• Experience in the food industry, preferably in a ready-to-eat and unionized environment;
• Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
• Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
• Advanced Computer Skills (ability to learn related programming of VRT equipment).
