An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Animal Technician to perform essential medical tests and assist in the care of animals. This role involves preparing vaccines, executing laboratory tests, and maintaining accurate animal records. The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology and experience in veterinary care. Performs medical tests in a laboratory environment for use in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases in animals. Prepares vaccines and serums for prevention of diseases. Prepares tissue samples, take blood samples, and execute laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood counts. Clean and sterilize instruments and materials and maintain equipment and machines. May assist a veterinarian during surgery.

Essential Functions:
-Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical factors accurately.
-Perform basic animal restraint and provide basic animal husbandry
-Take vitals (temperature, weight, height, blood pressure)
-Process patient specimens (blood, urine, breath)
-Prepare appropriate medical supplies for patient appointments
-Maintains animal records by documenting animal conditions, reactions, and changes; updating database.
-Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patient's assigned ASA II & III classification.
Education:
Associate's Degree Veterinary Technology required

Licenses and Credentials:
Certified Laboratory Animal Technician [LAT] - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science preferred
Experience:
Experience in laboratory animal or veterinary care 1-2 years required
