Job summary

The University of Guelph Health Sciences Centre, within the Ontario Veterinary College, seeks a Veterinary Office Administrator to join the animal care team. You will handle client reception, admissions, discharges, and billing while supporting clinicians and students in a busy hospital environment.

This temporary full-time role requires a related credential and experience, with weekend/evening shifts and a rabies titre proof as part of the appointment, contributing to high-quality client

Qualifications

• One year Veterinary Office Administration or Medical Office Administration program plus one year of related experience or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and basic invoicing processes.
• Ability to handle payments and cash with accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and client service orientation in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; flexible scheduling required.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm welcome to clients and visitors via phone, email and reception areas.
• Support clinicians, staff, and students with admissions, discharges, transfers, and follow-ups.
• Address billing inquiries from clients and referral clinics with professionalism.
• Input charges into invoices and review invoices for accuracy.
• Cross-trained to work in multiple service areas within the Health Sciences Centre.
• May work in technical and non-technical areas based on operational needs.
