Job summary

Vortex Freight Systems is hiring a US Carrier Representative in Mississauga. This on-site role focuses on sourcing carriers for US domestic loads, negotiating rates, and maintaining strong carrier relationships to keep freight moving efficiently.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent Excel skills and English proficiency (Spanish a plus) are valued assets.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in logistics or transportation.
• Experience sourcing and working with carriers on US domestic freight.
• Familiarity with load boards (DAT or Truckmate) or a TMS is a plus.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with multi-priority management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is an asset.
• Flexibility to work Canadian statutory holidays for US operations.

Responsibilities

• Source and secure carriers for US domestic loads in a high-volume environment.
• Negotiate rates with carriers to meet service and cost targets.
• Monitor daily load volumes and carrier availability to ensure coverage.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners.
• Communicate with dispatch, terminal and warehouse teams to keep loads on plan.
• Track shipments and update internal teams on status and delays.
• Help resolve carrier issues or service disruptions as they arise.
• Assist with onboarding and verification of carrier documents.
• Keep internal systems updated with accurate carrier and load information.
