Job summary

Richwil Truck Centre Ltd. is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join our Woodstock service department.

You will repair, maintain and service diesel engines in heavy trucks, with preference for Cummins and IC Bus experience, electrical diagnostics, and cooling/electronic systems. Responsibilities include preparing for service events, performing repairs safely, documenting work, mentoring apprentices, and ensuring excellent customer service while upholding safety standards and team

Qualifications

  • Red Seal preferred; combination of skills and experience may be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must provide own tools and wear CSA-approved safety footwear.
  • Team player with a commitment to a safe workplace.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for service events by reviewing orders, gathering information, and securing parts.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs accurately and safely per standards and diagnose.
  • Document work clearly in repair orders and coordinate next jobs to maintain workflow.
  • Apply technical expertise in troubleshooting and service of International Truck and IC Bus products.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of International and IC Bus offerings for customer solutions.
  • Promote safety by coaching, following health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Mentor coworkers and apprentices through hands-on coaching and guidance.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership and customers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by building relationships and timely support.
  • Take ownership of challenges, implement practical solutions, and seek improvements.

Diesel Technician

Department: Service
Reports To: Service Manager or Foreman

Overview

Richwil Truck Centre Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced Diesel Technicians to join our ever-growing service department in Woodstock as a diesel technician.

These positions are responsible for the repair, maintenance and service of diesel engines and heavy trucks. Experience with all aspects of heavy truck repair and maintenance required; preference may be given to those with experience with diesel engines,Cummins and International engines, electrical troubleshooting, cooling systems, and electronic engine control systems and diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare for service events by reviewing repair orders, gathering necessary information, securing tools, and ensuring timely access to required parts.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs accurately and safely by following established standards—conducting inspections, sourcing additional information or parts, managing deviations, and returning unused or core parts.
  • Document work thoroughly by clearly describing completed repairs in the repair order, clocking off appropriately, completing handovers when needed, and coordinating the next job to maintain workflow.
  • Apply technical expertise in troubleshooting, repair methods, vehicle systems, and proper tool usage to service International Truck and IC Bus products.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge of International and IC Bus offerings, applying this to align customer solutions with the company’s value proposition.
  • Promote safety and compliance by coaching on best practices, ensuring equipment is maintained, and following all health and safety policies and regulations.
  • Mentor coworkers and apprentices through hands-on coaching, knowledge sharing, and guidance to encourage skill growth and team success.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, and customers to promote understanding, build trust, and encourage collaboration.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by maintaining strong relationships, understanding needs, and providing professional, timely support.
  • Take ownership of challenges and opportunities by addressing issues promptly, finding practical solutions, and continually seeking process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Red Seal License is preferred. However, a combination of skills and experience may be considered
  • Possesses a valid driver's license
  • You must provide your own tools
  • CSA-approved safety footwear must be worn
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
