The Town of Oakville is seeking a part-time Front of House team member for the Oakville Centre theatres. The role includes assisting patrons, directing enquiries, greeting and seating, ticket taking, and maintaining a welcoming theatre environment.

Shifts include evenings, weekends, and some daytime work. A satisfactory criminal record check is required, dated within the last 30 days. Applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced setting and demonstrate strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or completion of secondary school.
  • Previous customer service experience in fast-paced environments.
  • Knowledge of theatre services is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons with inquiries and provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle or re-direct enquiries from patrons, sponsors, and artists.
  • Assist with greeting, seating and program preparation.
  • Take tickets manually and with electronic scanners; ensure seats are correctly assigned.
  • Keep front entrance, auditorium and washrooms presentable.
  • Know and assist with emergency procedures.
  • Check and clean auditorium before and after shows.
  • Set up tables and chairs as needed.
  • Assist patrons requiring additional help or seating aids.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Wear designated uniform.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hourly Rate:

Starting at $18.13 per hour

This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and December 31, 2026.

Job Responsibilities:

The Oakville Centre has a 497-seat theatre tiered over 17 rows (stairs) as well as a 120-seat studio theatre on the lower level. Front of House shifts include evenings, weekends and some daytime work. This position is part of the Front of House team and will be required to:

  • Have a good understanding of theatre performances and policies to assist and provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle or re-direct enquiries from patrons, sponsors, retail clients and artists.
  • Assist with program preparation, greeting and seating patrons.
  • Take tickets (both manually and with electronic scanners) and ensure that purchased seats have been correctly designated.
  • Keep the front entrance, auditorium and washrooms presentable.
  • Know and assist with medical emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Check and cleanup the auditorium pre- show and post.
  • Setup tables, chairs and easels as needed.
  • Assist patrons requiring additional help or aids to their seats and during the performance.
  • Participate in mandatory regular staff meetings.
  • Wear the designated uniform.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in or completion of secondary school.
  • Previous customer service and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, including working experience in the service or retail industry is required.
  • Previous knowledge about theatre services and performances an asset.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is a requirement of this position.
  • First aid certification is an asset.
