Job Description: 3rd Class Power Engineer - Gas Plant Operator

1. Schedule: 4 on 4 off, 5-man rotation, 12-hour shifts
2. Operation and Maintenance of Equipment: Oversee the operation and maintenance of the plant's equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and efficiency standards
3. Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards, particularly in handling sour gas
4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve operational problems to minimize downtime and maintain continuous plant operation
5. Monitoring and Control Systems: Operate and monitor control systems efficiently and respond to system deviations or alarms
6. Maintenance Planning: Assist in planning and executing routine maintenance and outage activities to enhance plant reliability
7. Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response drills and incidents, demonstrating preparedness and safety awareness
8. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate operational records and provide reports on plant performance and issues
9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and staff to ensure optimal plant operation
10. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to initiatives by suggesting operational and safety enhancements
11. Training and Supervision: Provide guidance and training to junior staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards

Requirements

1. Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification as per Alberta standards
2. Experience in a sour gas plant or similar industrial setting
3. Strong understanding of sour gas processing and safety hazards
4. Proficiency with control systems and automation tools
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
6. Good communication and teamwork skills
