Job Description: 3rd Class Power Engineer - Gas Plant Operator

- Schedule: 4 on 4 off, 5-man rotation, 12-hour shifts
- Operation and Maintenance of Equipment: Oversee the operation and maintenance of the plant's equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and efficiency standards
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards, particularly in handling sour gas
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve operational problems to minimize downtime and maintain continuous plant operation
- Monitoring and Control Systems: Operate and monitor control systems efficiently and respond to system deviations or alarms
- Maintenance Planning: Assist in planning and executing routine maintenance and outage activities to enhance plant reliability
- Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response drills and incidents, demonstrating preparedness and safety awareness
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate operational records and provide reports on plant performance and issues
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and staff to ensure optimal plant operation
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to initiatives by suggesting operational and safety enhancements
- Training and Supervision: Provide guidance and training to junior staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards
Requirements
- Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification as per Alberta standards
- Experience in a sour gas plant or similar industrial setting
- Strong understanding of sour gas processing and safety hazards
- Proficiency with control systems and automation tools
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- Good communication and teamwork skills
