Job Description: Second Class Power Engineer - Gas Plant Operator

Schedule
  • 4 on 4 off, 5-man rotation, 12-hour shifts
Responsibilities
  1. Operation and Maintenance of Equipment: Oversee the operation and maintenance of plant equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency standards are met.
  2. Safety and Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards, especially when handling sour gas.
  3. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Identify, analyze, and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime.
  4. Monitoring and Control Systems: Operate and monitor control systems, responding to deviations or alarms.
  5. Maintenance Planning: Assist in planning and executing routine maintenance and outages to enhance reliability.
  6. Emergency Response: Participate in emergency drills and incidents, demonstrating preparedness and safety awareness.
  7. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate operational records and report on plant performance.
  8. Team Collaboration: Work with engineers, technicians, and staff to ensure optimal operation.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Contribute to operational and safety improvements.
  10. Training and Supervision: Guide and train junior staff, ensuring adherence to safety and operational standards.
Requirements
  • Valid Second Class Power Engineer Certification as per Alberta standards
  • Experience in a sour gas plant or similar industrial setting
  • Understanding of sour gas processing and safety hazards
  • Proficiency with control systems and automation tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
