Job summary

Vaco Recruiter Services is seeking a Recovery Accountant for a vacancy in the Greater Toronto Area. You will review and audit lease-related charges, enter billing methods into the ERP, and maintain tenant billing data for accuracy.

You will support annual budgeting, prepare year-end reconciliations and invoices, and collaborate with Property Management to resolve inquiries. Strong accounting skills, Excel proficiency, and experience with Yardi are required or will be an asset.

Qualifications

• University degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in recovery accounting, property accounting, or a similar environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Experience with Yardi or a similar property management/accounting system is an asset.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply lease terms and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit lease-related charges, including operating costs, property taxes, and percentage-based rent, ensuring calculations align with contractual terms.
• Enter and maintain approved billing and calculation methodologies within the organization’s ERP system.
• Maintain tenant billing information and methodologies to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support the annual budgeting process through the preparation, review, and analysis of estimated tenant charges.
• Prepare and issue year-end reconciliation adjustments and invoices.
• Maintain schedules using monthly sales information and prepare applicable billing calculations.
• Partner with Property Management to investigate and resolve tenant inquiries related to billable and recoverable charges.
• Calculate applicable property tax adjustments and prepare related tenant billings.
• Complete ad hoc analysis and support various projects and initiatives as required.

Salary Range

$64,000 - $88,000/year
