Job summary

Save-On-Foods in Prince Rupert, BC is hiring a Temporary Department Manager, Deli for a full-time role with 40 hours per week and open availability.

You will lead the deli department, coach staff, oversee health and safety, merchandising, and KPI reporting while driving sales and customer loyalty. Food Safe certification and retail leadership are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Food Safe Certification.
• Post-secondary education in a business-related field is an asset.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Experience with merchandising plans and in-store displays.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department, coaching and mentoring the team to deliver Always Customer First service.
• Ensure operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety and merchandising.
• Engage and retain staff through training, performance management and recognition.
• Communicate messages and objectives to the department to align with company goals.
• Review financial reports, identify opportunities to improve performance, present KPIs to management.
• Analyze department HR metrics and dashboards to optimize operations.
• Support strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Lead inventory counts and resolve issues; perform duties including lifting up to 50 lbs.

We are hiring a Temporary Department Manager, Deli at our Save-On-Foods location in Prince Rupert, BC.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.
You will be responsible for:

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Delivering operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Reviewing and analyzing financial reports, identifying opportunities to improve performance, and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Supporting with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

You have:

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
• Achieving sales targets and profitability.
• Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
• Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
• Workforce planning and scheduling considerations.
• Health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Proficiency with computer applications.
