Job summary

Save-On-Foods, a division of Pattison Food Group, is seeking a Department Manager, Produce at the Burnaby location. This full-time role oversees the Produce department with a focus on customer-first service, merchandising, and staff development.

You will manage daily operations, coach team members, review KPIs, and collaborate with management to drive sales and loyalty while maintaining safety and product quality. Experience in retail leadership and Food Safe certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification required.
• Post-secondary education in business is an asset.
• Experience with achieving sales targets and merchandising plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead the department and coach team members while ensuring customer-first service.
• Ensure operations excellence in customer experience, health and safety, and merchandising.
• Analyze income statements and KPIs to identify performance improvements.
• Oversee inventory counts and period-end processes; manage staff scheduling.

We are hiring for a Department Manager, Produce at our HighGate Village Save-On-Foods location in Burnaby, BC. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, and the successful applicant must have open availability.

Responsibilities

• Leading the department, acting as a coach, mentor, and resource while fostering a positive team environment focused on Always Customer First service.
• Ensuring the department executes and achieves operational excellence through customer experience, health and safety, food safety, and merchandising.
• Engaging and retaining team members through training, performance management, rewards/recognition, and succession planning.
• Communicating key messages and business objectives to team members in the department, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Supporting the management team in reviewing and analyzing income statements and identifying opportunities to improve performance within the department.
• Reviewing and interpreting department financial reports and presenting KPIs to the management team.
• Analyzing business/HR metrics and dashboards of the department.
• Assisting the management team with implementing strategies to grow sales and customer loyalty.
• Leading inventory counts/period end of the department and resolving issues as required.
• Performing all job duties throughout the department as needed, including lifting weight (up to 50 lbs), standing for long periods of time, and working in hot/cold environments.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of retail experience.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Food Safe Certification.
• A post-secondary education in a business related field is an asset.
• Experience and/or knowledge with:
  • Achieving sales targets and profitability.
  • Executing merchandising plans and creating in-store displays to drive sales.
  • Human Resources (e.g. training, development, coaching and mentoring).
  • Employee Relations and knowledge of the collective agreement (if applicable).
  • Scheduling.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.

Compensation Details: $54,080.00
