Job Summary: The TSA provides technical consultation and support for the University and determines technology requirements that support organizational goals. This position is responsible for the gathering, analysis, recommendation and implementation of technology requirements. Additionally, responsible for desk side support for employees and teaching labs, as well as research labs on a case by case basis.

Responsibilities/accountabilities:

IT Requirements Gathering & Procurement

  • Meet with faculty, staff and department leads to gather and assess hardware/software needs
  • Conduct research and analysis to ensure tech compatibility with university systems
  • Provide expertise to Procurement teams, evaluate software/hardware tools, and communicate with vendors to resolve complex technical issues

Technology Education, Troubleshooting and Installation

  • Train faculty, staff and students in using various technologies (ie. MS Office Suites, Google, LMS)
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues and configure devices per user needs
  • Install, test and deploy software application ensuring reliability before roll out

Teaching Lab Set up

  • Coordinate lab refreshes or new setup with lab admins and faculty
  • Manage hardware/software procurement and set up logistics (PC's, peripherals, printers, etc)
  • Perform on-site imaging and installation of replacement systems

Faculty and staff laptop refresh

  • Lead annual hardware and software refresh cycles
  • Migrate data, install updated applications and ensure secure data transfer during transitions
  • Provide user support throughout refresh process

Daily technical operations

  • Support imaging requests for research labs, pilot projects and special events.
  • Coordinate technical setups for university wide events (e.g. Open House, OUF)
  • Manage documentation, server licensing and level 2 support (ie. via Cherwell ticketing)

Student support and special projects

  • Assist with supporting technology pilots
  • Provide consultation and troubleshooting support during in-person and online exams
  • Support student orientation events and community tech engagement

Required Skills:

  • Client support in an enterprise environment
  • Mass deployment and distribution of different computer systems and software
  • Experience working in a Windows Active Directory environment
  • Experience with PC and Mac platforms would be an asset

Required Education:

  • Completion of formal post secondary/college/university program of three academic years or more
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this role
