The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Lead/ Field Geomatics Supervisor to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Project Managers to ensure geomatics projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and legal requirements. With a focus on energy and resource support and development, as well as our local Fort St. John engineering, construction and legal survey work, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects throughout Western Canada. What You’ll Do
  • Field completion of various types of topographic surveys, high precision construction surveys and legal surveys around Fort St. John and Northern BC.
  • Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise, and accurate field notes, records, and calculations.
  • Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.
What You’ll Bring
  • Two‑year technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering with at least 3‑5 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in remote environments.
  • Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain and ability to lift heavy equipment.
  • Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours.
  • Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset but not required.
  • Experience with Underground Utility Locating is an asset but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.

The salary range for this position is $29‑$40 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
