Job summary

LASIK MD in Edmonton, AB is seeking a Surgical Assistant to support the surgeon in intraocular lens procedures. You will prepare the operating room, tools, and contribute to a high standard of patient care from start to finish.

This permanent full-time role offers 32-40 hours per week, a quarterly bonus, group insurance, RRSP match, and access to free LASIK for you. You will be part of a team recognized as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel between LASIK MD South and LASIK MD North West locations.
  • Strong interest in health and helping others.
  • Comfort with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365; EMR knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in the healthcare field is an asset.
  • Flexible schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm; Saturdays/Sundays rare.

Responsibilities

  • Become a specialist of the tools and technologies used in intraocular procedures.
  • Prepare the room and its tools before the procedures.
  • Always use clear, reassuring language to support the patient.
  • Coordinate and support each intervention as part of a team.
  • Be comfortable working on your feet in the operating room.
  • Maintain precision and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Cross-train in other technical roles and receptionist duties.
  • Support Risk Management by identifying and reporting patient safety concerns.

  • You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
  • Your experience in the healthcare field is considered an asset (Optometric Assistant, Orderly, Dental Assistant, Pharmacy Lab Technician, Sterilization Assistant, Animal Health Technician, Veterinary Assistant, Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, etc.).
  • Schedule:You have flexible work availability from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, with Saturdays/Sundays on rare occasions.
  • Required:You are comfortable traveling between our LASIK MD South, LASIK MD North West locations.
