Job summary

LASIK MD in Calgary seeks an Ophthalmic Technician (Opticianry graduate or SCIENCE graduate) to join a dedicated ophthalmology team. You will perform preoperative and postoperative measurements, review imaging, and explain procedures to patients with clarity.

A COT or COMT is preferred, with strong English skills and a patient-focused approach. The role offers a stable full-time schedule (~40 h/wk), bonus eligibility, and access to benefits including insurance and wellness options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent.
• Opticianry training or license not required.
• COT or COMT certification is preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Your tasks at a glance

• You complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
• You review imaging maps to validatetheir accuracy.
• You are knowledgeable about procedures and technologies available in the clinic.
• You provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

A clear view of your assets

• You are a graduate of a Bachelor's program in science (Bsc), an Opticianry program (license not required), a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or a Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT).
• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You are motivated tolearn how to use various diagnostic and testingtools.
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• Your experience in an eye-care environment is an asset.
• Schedule:You have flexible availability on Monday to Fridaybetween 8:00am - 4:00pm,with occasional Saturdays (approx. 1 Saturday p/month).
• Required flexibility:You have flexibility to be scheduled between our LASIK MD Calgary location & our TLC Laser Eye Centres location.
