Job summary

LASIK MD Calgary is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support ophthalmology clinics and enhance patient care. You will assist in pre- and post-operative processes, manage charts, and respond to patient inquiries.

The role offers a permanent full-time position with bonus eligibility, a supportive team environment, and access to benefits including group insurance and RRSP matching. A focus on patient service and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365; EMR systems knowledge is an asset.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Interest in the medical field and delivering excellent customer service.
• Able to connect with others and build trust quickly.
• Healthcare experience is an asset (e.g., medical assistant, optometry assistant, etc.).
• Able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and multi-task in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist during pre-op exams and fill patient charts accurately.
• Answer patients' questions and ensure the best service.
• Work closely with Optometrists.
• Conduct pre-operative and post-operative tests for patients.
• Update the appointment system after every consultation.
• Schedule and confirm post-operative appointments by telephone.
• Receive cross-training for Receptionist role after initial training.
• Support Risk Management by reporting safety concerns to clinic management.

Your tasks at a glance

• You assist during the pre-op exams and fill the patient’s charts accurately.
• You answerpatient’s questions and ensure the best service.
• You work closely with Optometrists.

• You support the organization’s Risk Management program by identifying and promptly reporting patient safety concerns, incidents, or potential risks to clinic management, to assist in the organization’s overall efforts to identify, report, and mitigate risks.

• You are comfortable with computers, technology, and Microsoft 365 (knowledge of EMR systems is an asset).
• You have excellent communication skills in English.
• You have an interest in the medical field and have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

• Your experience in the health care field is considered an asset (ex: medical assistant, physiotherapy assistant, optometry assistant, orderly, dental assistant, pharmacy lab technician, sterilization assistant, animal health technician assistant, veterinary assistant, etc.).
• You are looking for a fast-paced, dynamic work environment where your ability to work in a team and excel at multi-tasking will be an asset.
• Schedule: You have flexibility to work between Monday and Friday (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM), with Saturdays on rotation.
• Required: You have flexibility to be scheduled between our LASIK MD Calgary location, our Gimbel Eye Centre location & our TLC Laser Eye Centres location as business needs shift.
