Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright Canada in Toronto is seeking an experienced HR & Talent Manager to lead the HR team across Toronto and to support national HR initiatives. You will guide recruitment, onboarding and performance processes, approve payroll activities for the Toronto office, and collaborate with senior partners on budgets and HR programs.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in business administration or human resources management; CHRL designation strongly preferred.
• Minimum 8+ years of experience managing teams, preferably in a large law firm or professional services.
• Demonstrated knowledge across HR with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Current knowledge of federal and provincial HR laws and regulations; stays informed of HR best practices.
• Experience with HRIS (Workday) and strong Microsoft skills.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Mature with strong judgment and discretion; able to handle sensitive situations with cultural awareness.
• Effective communicator who collaborates across stakeholders; change agent in a dynamic environment.
• Results-oriented, self-motivated and able to thrive in a complex matrix structure.
• Strong client-focused mindset and ability to drive HR initiatives nationally.

Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic HR business partner to support business services in Toronto and Ottawa offices and practice groups.
• Manage the Toronto HR team and support recruitment, onboarding, payroll, performance management and salary reviews.
• Approve payroll activities for the Toronto office.
• Collaborate with Office Managing Partners and leaders on HR programs and budget planning.
• Oversee daily HR operations, records, leaves, offboarding and budget approvals.
• Support national HR initiatives, interpreting policies and managing complex HR issues.
• Plan employee wellness, events, social activities and learning programs.
• Serve as a regional point of contact for HR matters; foster an open and collegial culture.
