Job description

Our client located in Delta, BC, is looking for the Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance. This role has overall material management responsibility for maintenance operations and is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Logistics Department, ensuring optimal interface between all logistical functions and other departments. Typical duties include monitoring the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods. Additionally, the Senior Manager manages the employees within the Logistics & Stores department, providing expertise to support department and company goals, and recommending and implementing process improvements.

The Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance is responsible for export regulations and compliance processes related to existing and future military contracts (controlled goods, export license requirements for both material and data movements during operation and bid phases), as well as all current Canadian, U.S., and EU export and compliance laws and regulations (e.g., sanctions, tariff classification and changes, customs, ITAR, CCL, and EAR controlled goods).

Your Tasks:
General duties:
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Logistics Centre to achieve departmental goals.
  • Coordinate logistics activities with business strategies to improve overall achievement.
  • Coordinate the logistical and procedural standards of all parts.
  • Maintain the department's budget.
  • Set, monitor, and report KPIs to the CEO for the Logistics department; align KPIs with corporate and division goals.
  • Ensure audit awareness and compliance with aviation standards.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers to streamline logistics efforts across departments.
  • Coordinate training of department employees to ensure proficiency and adherence to Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness Standards.
Operational duties:
  • Coordinate, coach, monitor, supervise, and direct employees, especially unionized staff, to meet goals and customer expectations.
  • Ensure personnel have necessary resources to perform their tasks.
  • Coordinate and support the Materials Procurement Cycle to support the build process.
  • Oversee Receiving, Shipping, and Marshalling activities to support production and customer requirements.
  • Organize resources to support process teams.
  • Identify and respond to turn time risks with full transparency over all customer engines, modules, and engine assemblies.
Strategic duties:
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Facilitate team building through clear roles, responsibilities, and activities.
  • Manage work stoppages to minimize negative impacts on production.
Our Requirements:
  • University degree in Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Logistics Management, preferably in an operational environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work under stress in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented, strategic thinker, and adaptable to change.
  • Experience in Aviation and managing unionized employees is strongly preferred.
