Job description

Our client located in Delta, BC is looking for a Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance. This role has overall material management responsibility for maintenance operations and involves coordinating and overseeing the Logistics Department to ensure optimal interface between all logistical functions and other departments. Typical duties include monitoring the quality, quantity, cost, and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods. Additionally, the Senior Manager manages employees within the Logistics & Stores department, providing expertise to support department and company goals, and recommending and implementing process improvements.

The Senior Manager of Logistics and Export Compliance is responsible for export regulations and compliance processes related to military contracts (controlled goods, export license requirements for material and data movements during operations and bidding phases), as well as adherence to Canadian, U.S., and EU export and compliance laws and regulations (e.g., sanctions, tariff classification, customs, ITAR, CCL, EAR controlled goods).

Your Tasks:

General duties:

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Logistics Centre to achieve departmental goals.
  • Align logistics activities with business strategies to improve overall performance.
  • Ensure logistical and procedural standards are maintained across all parts.
  • Maintain departmental budget.
  • Set, monitor, and report KPIs to the CEO, aligning with corporate and division goals.
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with aviation and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other managers to streamline efforts within the Logistics department as internal customers and vendors.
  • Coordinate training for department employees, both unionized and salaried, to optimize multi-tasking and maintain compliance with Canadian Ministry of Transport Airworthiness Standards.

Operational duties:

  • Supervise and direct employees daily to meet internal and external customer expectations.
  • Ensure personnel have necessary resources to perform their tasks.
  • Support the Materials Procurement Cycle, ensuring sufficient resource allocation to meet schedules.
  • Coordinate Receiving, Shipping, and Marshalling activities to support production and customer requirements.
  • Utilize available resources to support process teams.
  • Manage turn time risks with full transparency over all customer engines, modules, and engine assemblies during shop visits.

Strategic duties:

  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the team.
  • Foster team building through clear roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage work stoppages to minimize negative impacts on production.

Our Requirements:

  • University degree in Logistics, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience in Logistics Management, preferably in an operations environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work under stress in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Results-oriented with strategic thinking and change agility.
  • Experience in Aviation and managing unionized employees is strongly preferred.
