Job summary

YMCA Calgary invites applicants for a part-time Sport Coordinator at Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge. You will support sport programs for children and youth, coordinate schedules, and help deliver a positive experience for participants. The role requires 3-5 years of coaching youth, customer service experience, and current First Aid with CPR-C.

NCCP in basketball is an asset. Flexible hours include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years’ experience coaching sport programs to children and youth.
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C within last 12 months; approved providers listed.
• Clear police security clearance including vulnerable sector search.
• Three professional references required.

Responsibilities

• Be present at sport programs to support staff, volunteers, participants and parents.
• Coordinate schedules, tournaments and evaluations with Sport Supervisor.
• Assist in recruiting and training of all volunteers and staff.

Sport Coordinator (Part Time)

Start Date: September 2026

Salary: $20.35/hour - $22.61/hour

What qualifications are we looking for?

• National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in basketball would be considered an asset
• 3-5 years’ experience coaching sport programs to children and youth
• Customer service experience
• Supervisory experience considered an asset
• Ability to manage and adjust to changing environment
• Experience working with children and youth
• Effectively communicate in a variety of settings; excellent oral and written communication skills, including intermediate use of technology
• Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
• Evidence of a cleared police security clearance including a vulnerable sector search
• Three professional references required.

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

• Be present at Sport programs to provide support to staff, volunteers, participants and parents
• Liaise with Sport Supervisor, coordinate schedules, tournaments and evaluations
• Assist in recruiting and training of all volunteer and staff
• Effectively communicate in a variety of settings;
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure best delivery of customer/client experience;
• Is available to work flexible hours, including irregular and extended hours, esp. evenings and weekends.
• Administrative duties for Sport ILT, including onboarding, packages, rosters etc.
• Attend branch and ILT special events (Healthy Kids Day, Basketball tournaments, All Sport One Day, in-services, Stampede Breakfast, volunteer appreciation etc)
