Job summary

YMCA Calgary is seeking a Duty Manager for the North Part Time role. The position requires evening and weekend availability and the ability to work across multiple regional facilities, ensuring safe, high-quality operations and excellent customer service.

You will respond to emergencies, coordinate staff, maintain records, and support program delivery while upholding health and safety standards in a fast-paced community setting.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Proven experience acting as a leader in dynamic environments.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience in a leadership position.
  • Interest in Health and Safety policy and procedure.
  • Able to multi-task and demonstrates strong time-management skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication.
  • Police check and Vulnerable Sector Search required.
  • Three professional references required.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a regular weekly Duty Manager shift at a regional facility.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Work at multiple regional facilities across the association.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and first aid requests.
  • Maintain accurate incident records and internal reporting.
  • Provide support to program areas and facility operations.

Duty Manager - North Part Time)

Start Date: Immediately

Salary: $20.35/hour - $22.61/hour

*The succesfull candiate will have availability Monday to Friday evenings and weekends. Hours for this position is provided based on operational needs of the branch. On occasion additional hours may be needed.

  • Experience working in a health and safety role is an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
  • Hold a regular weekly Duty Manager shift at a regional facility.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends with irregular and extended hours.
  • Ability to work at multiple regional facilities across the association.
  • Ability to work at times in a fast pace environment with high pressure and stress situations.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service with communication skills that can de-escalation situations.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet the needs and demands of facility operations.
  • Maintain a safety work environment ensuring the safety of all facility users in a proactive manner.
  • Ensure facility security, following all opening and closing procedures.
  • Respond to facility emergencies, first aid requests, incidents, and thefts.
  • Accurate recording of incidents and interactions through internal reporting systems.
  • Be aware of all programs and facility bookings; ensuring that facilitators have all necessary resources.
  • Work in a team environment to provide excellent service; providing support to busy areas, tours, set-up of program areas and anything else required to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
  • The Duty Manager is responsible for coordinating the emergency response within the branch, including contacting emergency services and administering first aid and CPR when required.
  • The Duty Manager must be alert at all times in order to prevent and respond to emergencies and health and safety concerns within the branch.
  • As part of this position, walking throughout the facility and maintaining contact with all departments is necessary. Work environments will include all spaces within the facility including traditional office settings, the weight floor, and pool areas.
  • By design the Duty Manager position can be a physically taxing position requiring extended periods of walking, standing, and scanning the facility. The Duty Manager is also required to work in close contact with others while providing first aid and CPR when required. The position will require moderate bending, lifting and repetitive movements as needed in emergency situations.
