PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Specialist Real Estate undertakes complex tasks associated with the region’s landholdings, including negotiating and coordinating fixed fee and revenue agreements, as well as performing shared administrative tasks for the team.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Facilitates third-party use of non-surplus, underutilized properties, engaging with internal stakeholders to verify surplus status and ensure proposed use does not impact operations.
  2. Negotiates real estate agreements to maximize returns and minimize liability, including access and temporary use agreements.
  3. Supports real property aspects of CPKC projects by providing expertise on acquisitions, development, and disposition of property interests.
  4. Researches historical agreements, ownership, and title status of parcels using various resources.
  5. Manages administrative tasks related to real estate agreements, including document management and handling inquiries.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in Railroad Real Estate or Corporate Real Estate.
  2. Post-secondary education in business, finance, or property management is an asset.
  3. Experience in complex railroad transactions is a strong asset.
  4. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including negotiation of legal agreement terms.
  5. Ability to read, interpret, and understand legal land-related documents.
