Job description

Want to develop software systems for a team that’s at the center of the supply chain universe? Sourcing Performance, part of Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT), is seeking a software development engineer to design, build, and maintain our critical purchase order and supply chain performance systems.

At Amazon, we work hard to make the products our customers want and love available for purchase on our website. Last year, we ordered more than 10 billion items from thousands of vendors. Each time we procure inventory, there are critical financial and operational decisions that must be made, and performance standards that our vendors and internal teams must meet to ensure an optimal retail experience for our customers.

Sourcing Performance team owns the software systems that make key decisions about Purchase Orders (POs), create and transmit POs to vendors, measure vendor performance against standards and policies, and use feedback, coaching, and financial chargebacks to drive vendors to reduce defects in the supply chain.

In your role as a Software Development Engineer II (SDE 2) on the Sourcing Performance team, you will design system architecture and develop software in an AWS cloud environment, enhance our web portals which are used by thousands of product vendors and internal employees, create unit and integration tests, implement alarms to alert when our services are not operating optimally in the production environment, monitor system performance, deep-dive into the root cause of important issues and defects, and acquire the domain knowledge necessary to understand how Amazon’s supply chain operates to serve our customers.

Together, you and your engineering teammates, technical and product managers will work to invent the next generation of Sourcing Performance services at Amazon, improve the way that we source and procure inventory, and reduce sourcing defects for Earth's most customer‑centric company.

A day in the life

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Maternity and Parental Leave Options

  • RRSP- 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience leveraging Generative AI to accelerate or improve the software development process- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Experience implementing highly available, highly scalable services in a containerized, cloud‑hosted environment
  • Experience incorporating a breadth of data layer technologies (relational, NoSQL, distributed search) into software systems, and performing data deep‑dives, writing and debugging complex data queries
  • Experience building AI agents to handle customer inquiries, or to administer a business process flow
  • An ideal candidate will have a strong intrinsic business sense and experience working on software products that serve the business domain, with basic knowledge of procurement and accounting practices
