Job summary

Resorts of the Canadian Rockies is hiring for the full-time seasonal Snowmaking Assistant Supervisor at Fernie Alpine Resort. You will support daily snowmaking operations, mentor staff, and coordinate crew activities to ensure smooth operations in a mountain environment.

The role requires physical stamina, snowmaking and snowmobile experience, strong communication, and the ability to work varied shifts including overnights. A passion for mountain culture and guest service is valued.

Snowmaking Assistant Supervisor (Full-time Seasonal)

We are looking to fill the full-time seasonal position of Snowmaking AssistantSupervisor to join our mountain operations team at Fernie Alpine Resort. Reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor, theideal candidate will have snowmaking and snowmobile experience, strongcommunication skills, and the ability to support the daily operations of thesnowmaking department. The successful candidate will be self-motivated,physically capable, and enjoy working outdoors in a mountain environment.

You will
  • Ensure a safe, comfortable, and friendlyatmosphere for guests and staff.
  • Deliver a high level of guest service.
  • Assist with coordinating daily snowmakingoperations and supporting the team in meeting departmental goals.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training tosnowmaking staff.
  • Assist with crew talks, safety meetings, anddaily operational briefings.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining thesnowmaking system, including pumps, hydrants, hoses, and snow guns.
  • Perform routine inspections and reportoperational or maintenance concerns.
  • Complete reports, checklists, anddocumentation as requested.
  • Follow up on daily operational checks andcommunicate findings to the Supervisor.
  • Assist with shift coordination and crewassignments.
  • Provide leadership and operational directionin the Supervisor's absence.
  • Perform snowmaking duties as required.
  • Know and follow all safe work proceduresincluded in the Safety Management Program
  • Know and comply with all expectations of theInjury Management/Return-to-Work Programs
  • Perform other tasks and duties that areapplicable
You have
  • Physical capability toperform demanding outdoor work
  • Ability and desire to work outdoors (day or night) in winter
  • Self-motivation, are a quick learner and reliable
  • Strong communication and teamworkskills
  • Experience driving a snowmobile (preferred)
  • Prior snowmaking experience (preferred)
  • Ability to work various shifts,including overnight and rotating schedules
  • Basic record-keeping andreporting skills
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive wage: $18.25-19.50/hour

This is a full-time winter seasonal position. The role is set tocommence in October, but could begin earlier with early season close. Shifts vary depending on weather.
