Job summary

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is seeking a dedicated Snowmaking Technician to operate, monitor, and maintain snowmaking systems. You will perform setup, maintenance, and adjustments, ensuring safe operations and efficient production in all weather conditions.

The role requires physical fitness, teamwork, and the ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays. Join a passionate team dedicated to delivering exceptional mountain experiences.

Qualifications

• Experience with snowmaking or terrain building and a strong safety record.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance knowledge.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work outdoors in all conditions.

• Safely operate snowmaking and related equipment with pre/post checks.
• Perform daily light maintenance (fluids, cleaning, greasing, fueling).
• Set up by laying out, connecting, and charging hoses.

Job description

You Will

• Safely operate snowmaking and related equipment, performing pre and post operation checks.
• Perform daily light maintenance (topping up fluids, cleaning interior and exterior, greasing, and fueling of machine).
• Layout, connect and charge hoses during setup.
• Monitor and adjust snowmaking pumps and guns as required.
• Discharge, disconnect, thaw and drain hoses for teardown.
• Recognize and report any potential hazards or equipment malfunctions to the Snowmaking Team Lead.
• Perform snow removal and snow farming (including snowmaking and snow fencing).
• Be an advocate for health and safety, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
• Work flexible shifts, including afternoons, graveyards, holidays and weekends, in extreme weather conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

You Have

• Previous experience with snowmaking or terrain building, with an excellent safety record.
• Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of basic operations and equipment maintenance.
• The physical capability to lift up to 30 lbs, perform manual labor, stand for prolonged periods, and work in all outdoor conditions.
• Comfort working with high voltage and high-water pressure.
• A basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski/snowboarding terrain needs.
• A team-oriented mindset and a desire to make a positive contribution to the entire resort.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a diverse range of people.
