Job summary

Jardeg is recruiting for a Skilled Labourer to join the Newell Substation project in Burnaby, BC. The role involves concrete work, use of power tools, and site safety responsibilities on a day shift with a 5-on/2-off schedule and local accommodations.

Candidates should have CSTS/WHMIS, experience with concrete and power tools, and be able to lift 50 lbs. Telehandler/EWP experience is an asset; transportation to site is required.

Qualifications

• Able to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Cut, drill, grind, and chip concrete using power tools.
• Finish concrete by chipping, grinding high spots and ridges.
• Operate tools like vibrators to compact concrete and assist pours.
• Assist with formwork, stripping and chipping.
• Dewatering tasks as needed.
• Operate telehandler and/or elevated platforms.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and job site.
• Support shut-down and end-of-shift cleanup.
• Perform other duties as required by site supervisor.

Jardeg is currently recruiting experienced Labourers to join the team at the Newell Substation Project!

This position is located in Burnaby, BC and does not have camp accommodations or living out allowance.

This is a 5 and 2 schedule with the possibility of working afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Duties

• Cut, drill, grind, and chip concrete using tools like power saws, drills, and jackhammers
• Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete using tools like pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools
• May operate other power tools like the vibrator to compact concrete and assist with concrete pours
• Assist with concrete formwork, stripping formwork, and chipping
• Dewatering
• Operate the telehandler and/or mobile elevated work platforms
• General site cleanup, housekeeping, and site organization
• Maintain clean, organized work areas; remove debris and hazards; support end-of-shift cleanup
• Assist with other duties as required by the site to ensure the project advances smoothly and safely

Requirements

• Experience operating a Telehandler & Elevated Work Platforms is considered an asset
• Able to lift 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to bend, stretch, lift, push, pull, and carry
• Capable of learning through on-the-job-training
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Describe and point out safety compliance and regulatory issues; take appropriate actions
• Reliable transportation
