Interfor is seeking a Silviculture Intern for Adams Lake, British Columbia. This on-site role blends field work (80%) with office tasks (20%), offering hands-on experience in tree planting, site prep, and stand tending from Kamloops to Adams Lake.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a university or college forestry program.
  • Have completed a field season or seeking hands-on silviculture experience.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel; GIS or GPS is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to spend considerable time outdoors and travel over uneven terrain.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with staff, clients, and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Silviculture Team with active projects (tree planting, site preparation, stand tending).
  • Take part in silviculture surveys from Post-Harvest Assessments to Free Growing walkthroughs.
  • Inter-department exposure in Roads and Operations.
  • Support sustainable forest management and forest regeneration activities.
  • Collect and analyze field data while learning how silviculture programs support healthy forests.
  • Use GPS and mapping tools to navigate forest areas and support forestry projects.
  • Collaborate with forestry professionals and contractors to monitor field operations.
  • Build technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills through real-world field experience.

Silviculture Intern, Adams Lake, British Columbia

Ready to take what you're learning in school and put it to work? At Interfor, we're looking for future leaders who are curious, hands-on, and eager to learn. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals, build practical skills, and gain a better understanding of the work that supports responsible forestry and the wood products industry. If you enjoy working outdoors, exploring forested landscapes, and seeing how field decisions support forest renewal, this internship offers the chance to turn classroom learning into practical experience.

This is an on-site internship with an anticipated start date in May. There will be occasional overnight camp stays and work in all weather conditions. The schedule is Monday-Friday and the role is roughly 80% field based, 20% office based. Ideally, you’ll be available for a 8 to 10 month term. This work will be conducted within our operating area, which reaches from Kamloops to Blue River and Eastward past Adams Lake.

What You Offer
  • You are currently enrolled in a recognized university or college forestry program.
  • You have completed a field season or are interested in building practical silviculture experience.
  • You are comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with GIS or GPS technology is an asset.
  • You have a valid driver’s license.
  • You are prepared to spend considerable time outdoors in a forested environment and travel over uneven terrain.
  • You communicate clearly and can work effectively with employees, clients, and contractors.
