Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for a Shop Technician based in our Port Coquitlam branch in BC.

As a Shop Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems and other fire safety equipment. While this role is based out of our Port Coquitlam branch, it includes remote service work at customer locations throughout the surrounding area. This is a hands‑on role suited for someone who is mechanically inclined, safety‑focused, and customer‑oriented.

About the Role

Based primarily in our shop in Port Coquitlam, you will receive comprehensive training to support our customers and mobile technicians. You will build your career with us through formal technical training and certifications from our manufacturers, as well as hands‑on training with our experienced team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform in‑shop inspection, testing, maintenance, and preparation of fire and life safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, sprinkler components, fire alarm components, and related systems
  • Support and train in the testing, inspection, maintenance, and operation of fire protection equipment and system components, following regulatory and company procedures
  • Accurately complete and maintain records for inspections, testing results, deficiencies, repairs, and equipment status
  • Complete fire extinguisher inspections and servicing in accordance with applicable standards
  • Prepare equipment for deployment to customer sites, ensuring readiness, compliance, and quality standards are met
  • Perform general warehouse duties, including shipping & receiving, inventory handling, and operating equipment such as forklifts and dollies
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion and submission of all required paperwork and service documentation
  • Participate in mandatory safety training, certifications, and ongoing skills development
  • Follow Safe Work Practices and actively contribute to Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and continuous safety improvements
  • Assist with maintaining shop organization, cleanliness, tools, and equipment
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Service Manager
Ideal Qualifications
  • Basic electrical knowledge and strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience using hand and power tools in a variety of work environments
  • Previous fire equipment servicing experience; ASTT certification is a strong asset and will be given preference
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Prior customer service experience with strong communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers, mobile devices, and service‑related technology
  • Ability to successfully pass pre‑employment and periodic drug & alcohol testing, as well as a criminal background check
