Job description

SHIFT LEADER

We are more than just your local restaurant. We are a collection of hardworking small-business owners.

Did you know that from coast to coast, we serve delicious choices to more than 2.5 million people in over 1,400 locations every day, and that we have proudly helped more than 387,000 Canadian families with sick children through Ronald McDonald House Charities?

Our offer

Working with us means you will have the opportunity to earn and learn, enjoy flexibility, and work in a safe and inclusive environment. This includes:

  • Access to education and skills development opportunities
  • A comprehensive rewards package with discounts, incentives, and recognition
  • A flexible schedule that fits your needs
  • A safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace
  • The chance to bring your authentic self to work, welcoming people of every age, background, and culture—just like our guests
The job

Here are some of the key responsibilities you will have:

  • Restaurant Profitability: Supporting market performance through audits, analysis, and coaching alongside the General Manager and Operations Consultants. Your goal is to elevate restaurant performance to meet business targets, improve guest satisfaction, market share, and profitability. You will assist in completing ROIP assessments and coaching Restaurant Managers on action plans and performance improvements.
  • Workforce Planning, Staffing, and Talent Management: Supporting the workforce plan by sourcing, selecting, hiring, onboarding, and developing staff to meet competency needs and retain qualified talent aligned with organizational goals. You will oversee succession planning to ensure a healthy talent pipeline.
  • Gold Standard Launch: Supporting the delivery of "gold standard launches" focused on perfect execution to drive continuous improvement and business growth. You will provide leadership, coaching, and expertise during launch activities.
Your vibe and experience

While a post-secondary education in Human Resources and previous experience in food service or retail HR is helpful, what matters most is who you are.

You are a driven HR professional who combines logic, analysis, and strategic thinking. You engage actively with people, demonstrating care, respect, and passion for our guests. Empowering others to perform their best is what motivates you. You understand what success and celebration look like for your team. You adapt quickly to changing situations without losing momentum.

About us

In 1954, Ray Kroc, an enterprising salesman, discovered a small burger restaurant in California, beginning McDonald’s history. The first McDonald’s Canada opened in 1967 in Richmond, B.C., and we have been growing with our communities and serving quality food at great value ever since. Today, McDonald’s Canada is a leading food service retailer, offering opportunities at corporate-owned and franchise-operated restaurants.

McDonald’s Canada and our Owner/Operators are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We provide fair, equitable, and accessible opportunities for all employees and applicants. Accommodations during the application process are available upon request.
