Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities for the Automotive Shop.
  • Ensure all work activities comply with OHSE regulations and company policies.
  • Create and manage work orders with accurate information.
  • Maintain fleet information, track costs, generate monthly reports, and schedule work using maintenance management systems.
  • Review warranty coverage, recalls, and service bulletins to support repair planning.
  • Prepare repair quotations, obtain customer approvals, coordinate parts procurement, and schedule work completion.
  • Manage inventory levels and consumable replacement approvals.
  • Coordinate third‑party repair services, purchase orders, and vendor invoice processing.
  • Maintain accurate service records and transfer repair data into company systems.
  • Manage parts cores returns and vendor credits.
  • Act as primary contact for the Automotive Department during business hours.

Description

SMS Equipment is looking for a Service Advisor to coordinate the day-to-day planning and scheduling of maintenance and repair activities within our Automotive Shop. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while serving as the primary point of contact for maintenance planning, repair quotations, work coordination, and customer communication.

Work Location: Fort McMurray, AB.
Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 per annum.
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site, working from the branch each day.
Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair activities for the Automotive Shop.
  • Ensure all work activities are completed in accordance with OHSE regulations and company policies and procedures.
  • Create and manage work orders, ensuring all required information is entered accurately.
  • Maintain fleet information, track costs, generate monthly reports, and schedule work using maintenance management systems.
  • Review warranty coverage, recalls, and technical service bulletins to support repair planning.
  • Prepare repair quotations, obtain customer approvals, coordinate parts procurement, and schedule work completion.
  • Manage inventory requirements, stock levels, and consumable replacement approvals.
  • Coordinate third-party repair services, purchase orders, and vendor invoice processing.
  • Maintain accurate service records and transfer completed repair information into company systems.
  • Manage parts core returns and vendor credit processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the Automotive Department during business hours.
What You Bring

The successful candidate will bring a clear understanding of safety policies and regulations, along with working knowledge of equipment maintenance systems, estimating, and problem solving. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role is required.

  • Strong focus on quality, productivity, and equipment availability.
  • High level of customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and repair coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with maintenance management systems and computerized record keeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
