Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, Tier 4 engines, emissions systems, and schematics.

Description

As a Heavy Equipment Technician / Heavy Duty Mechanic, you'll help ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready to perform in a challenging field environment. We're looking for someone who takes pride in delivering quality repairs, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and supporting customers with dependable service.

Working on a variety of heavy equipment, you'll use your technical expertise to diagnose problems, complete repairs, and contribute to equipment performance and uptime. This role is well suited to someone who values safety, accountability, and practical problem-solving.

Base Wage: $71.31 per hour plus applicable premiums
Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Schedule: 7x7 and 14x14 rotations

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain construction and mining equipment in a field service environment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems to identify and resolve equipment issues.

What You Bring

You bring Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification and a minimum of 1 year of related on-road or off-road experience, along with the ability to support field-based repairs across a variety of makes and models with minimal supervision.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems.
  • Knowledge of open and closed centre hydraulic systems, Tier 4 engines, emissions systems, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.
  • Strong computer and communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform demanding work and operate safely in field conditions, including confined spaces when required.

Nice to Have

  • Red Seal certification
  • Experience with Komatsu construction-class equipment
  • Microsoft Teams and Cummins INSITE experience
