Job summary

Princess Cruises and Holland America Line is seeking a Server/Waithelp for the Holland America Dawson City Inn. The role is seasonal full-time in the Food and Beverage department, onsite in Dawson City, Yukon.

You will welcome guests, present menus, take orders, and ensure a memorable dining experience while following company policies. Responsibilities include setup and breakdown, POS transactions, and teamwork to maintain cleanliness and service standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service is essential.
• Knowledge of alcohol service and pouring is needed.
• Accurate cash handling is required.
• Basic math skills for transactions and vouchers are needed.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a team.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand/walk for long shifts (8+ hours).
• Must pass pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

• Organize and set up workspace before, during, and after each shift, including stocking and cleaning.
• Greet guests and maintain a professional appearance.
• Knowledgeably present menus and recommendations to guests.
• Follow the defined service sequence to ensure quality dining experiences.
• Clear, clean, sanitize and reset the venue as needed.
• Operate a computerized POS system and process transactions accurately.
• Communicate safety, guest, or employee concerns to Supervisors and Management.
• Assist with running food, seating tables, and welcoming guests as needed.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all spaces and restock as needed.
• Contribute to a positive guest experience with professional attitude and appearance.

Servers provide positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. They play an integral role in ensuring our customers have an exceptional dining experience by providing food and beverages for guests and serving them throughout the restaurant and bar while following all state and local laws and company policies. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to the guests' needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, and important. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Organizing and setting up workspace before, during, and after each shift including stocking, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparatory work and proper maintaining of all dining room refrigerators and equipment.
• Greeting and welcoming guests to the restaurant while maintaining a professional appearance.
• Knowledgeably present menus and recommendations to guests.
• Using the company’s sequence of service with guests to make sure they are having a quality dining experience.
• Clearing, cleaning, sanitizing and resetting the venue as needed.
• Efficiently operating a computerized point of sale system, completing financial transactions accurately, making changes, and running credit cards.
• Effectively and proactively communicate any safety, guest, or employee concerns with the Supervisors and Management.
• Contributing to the overall success of the venue by running food, seating tables, and welcoming guests as needed.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in all work and storage spaces. Inclusive of routine washroom checks and restocking of needed items via washroom checklist.
• Contribute effectively to a positive guest experience while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs./23 kg, and stand/walk for long periods of time.
• BARS Training/Certification is an asset.
• Minimum age of 19 years is required to serve alcohol in the Yukon.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check that could include a credit check.
• Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

• Must pose excellent customer service skills.
• Must have knowledge of alcohol service and making/pouring drinks.
• Accurate cash handling is required.
• Basic math abilities must be able to process financial transactions, company vouchers, group sales, etc.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
• Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
• Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
