Job summary

Sargent & Lundy, L.L.C. is seeking a senior transmission design engineer in Toronto, hybrid role requiring in-office work three days per week.

The position focuses on designing high-voltage transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV, mentoring team members, and coordinating design activities to satisfy client and code requirements. Ideal candidates have 12+ years of transmission design experience, proficiency in PLS-CADD, and familiarity with NESC, IEC, IEEE, ANSI standards.

Qualifications

• BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, calculations and specifications.
• Experience working with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.
• Valued: P.Eng license
• Valued: PMP certification
• Valued: Construction experience
• Valued: ArcGIS familiarity

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations meet specs, codes and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information in a clear, client-focused format.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations, drawings, and PLS-CADD-based models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
