Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Canada is seeking a senior transmission design engineer to lead the design of lines from 69kV to 500kV, mentor junior staff, and coordinate activities to ensure compliance with client and project specifications. The role requires a Canadian- or ABET-accredited engineering degree and 12+ years' experience.

Candidates should be proficient in PLS-CADD, experienced in developing scopes of work and calculations, and comfortable working directly with clients.

Qualifications

• BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on 69kV–500kV transmission lines.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies meeting client requirements and company formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and models in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
