Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Engineer to join the Energy & Resources team across Canada. You will design, review, and coordinate protection and control systems for large-scale electrical energy projects, including substations and renewable energy facilities.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, supervise detailed P&C design, and contribute to commissioning and field activities.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical engineering and eligible for EBGC registration.
• 4+ years of detailed P&C design experience with utilities in Canada.
• Fluent English (oral and written).
• Autonomous, resourceful and a strong team player.
• Proficient with Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Design and review Control and Protection systems for utility and industry projects.
• Approve and review project deliverables including single-line diagrams and electrical drawings.
• Collaborate with engineering team and cross-discipline project managers.
• Prepare project plans, drawings and calculations per specs.
• Develop electrical control and protection systems including diagrams and panel layouts.
• Supervise development of AC/DC power systems and related calculations.
• Participate in site surveys at stations and power plants.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to optimize substation and power plant solutions.
• Carry out protection coordination studies and relay settings.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and review their deliverables.
• Prepare commissioning specs and field review plans, including NERC CIP docs.
• Liaise with equipment, civil, mechanical and building teams for design solutions.
• Occasional site work for startup or monitoring as opportunities arise.
