Job summary

CIMA+ is seeking an Intermediate Protection and Control Engineer to join the Western Canada team. You will work with P&C designers on large electrical energy projects, evolving in a multidisciplinary environment and collaborating with experienced professionals on substations, hydroelectric plants, and renewable energy initiatives across Canada.

Qualifications

• University Degree in Electrical engineering
• Registered (or eligible to register as) member of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EBGC) or that of a recognized Professional Engineering Association in Canada. (P.Eng)
• 8+ years of experience working on P&C projects
• Good knowledge of protection and control principles and philosophies is mandatory
• Work experience in the design of electrical systems
• 5+ years experience in detailed P&C design with major and/or local utilities in Canada
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Basic knowledge of the office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Autonomous, resourceful, and enjoys teamwork
• Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence

Responsibilities

• Design and review protection and control drawings for substation and power systems
• Collaborate with engineering team and project managers from other disciplines
• Prepare plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications
• Develop electrical Command and Protection systems including diagrams and wiring drawings
• Develop AC/DC station service power system diagrams and load calculations
• Participate in site surveys of stations and power plants
• Coordinate with equipment, civil, mechanical and building disciplines
• Occasional on-site work for startup or monitoring as opportunities arise
• Perform QA/QC of electrical design packages
• Support commissioning and field engineering
