Job summary

CIMA+ in Western Canada is seeking a Senior Protection and Control Engineer to contribute to large-scale electrical energy projects across Canada, including substations, hydroelectric plants and renewable energy initiatives.

You will lead protection coordination studies, design and review P&C systems, and collaborate with civil, mechanical and electrical disciplines. A Canadian PE/EBGC registration and 12+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered or eligible to register as a professional engineer in Canada.
• Over 12 years of relevant experience.
• Fluent in English (oral and written).
• Autonomous, resourceful, and strong teamwork.
• Knowledge of protection and control principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and review Control and Protection systems for utility and industry projects.
• Approve and review project deliverables, including detail design drawings, P&C one line diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules.
• Collaborate with engineering team and project managers from other disciplines.
• Prepare project plans, drawings and calculations based on specifications.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to develop design solutions for substations and power plant systems.
• Perform protection coordination studies, relay settings and logic files.
• Possibly participate in site surveys and commissioning planning.
