Job summary

WhatJobs Direct seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead a major ERP implementation, overseeing vendor selection, system design, configuration, data migration and go-live. This remote-first role allows work from Kimberley, Northern Cape, ZA, or elsewhere nationwide.

You will guide a cross-functional team and drive change management while managing budgets above R5 million and ensuring data visibility across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in project management with 5+ years leading large ERP deployments
• Deep knowledge of at least one major ERP system (SAP/Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics) and its modules
• Proven experience delivering projects in a fully remote environment
• Strong understanding of finance, HR, supply chain and operations processes
• PMP certification desirable and strong leadership/communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end ERP implementation lifecycle from initiation to go-live and post-go-live support
• Develop and manage detailed project plans (scope, timeline, budget, resources, risk)
• Oversee ERP system selection and implementation to meet business objectives
• Mentor and manage a dispersed team of functional consultants, IT professionals and business users
• Oversee requirements gathering, process re-engineering, configuration and UAT
• Manage data migration strategies and execution from legacy systems to the new ERP platform
• Drive change management initiatives to achieve user adoption and minimize resistance
• Monitor KPIs and provide regular status updates to senior leadership
• Co-ordinate vendor relationships and ensure contractual obligations are met
• Identify and mitigate risks and develop resolution plans

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire lifecycle of the ERP implementation project, from initiation to post-go-live support.
• Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Oversee the selection and implementation of an ERP system, ensuring it meets business requirements and strategic objectives.

• Manage data migration strategies and execution from legacy systems to the new ERP platform.

• Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide regular, detailed status reports to executive leadership.
• Manage vendor relationships and ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, developing and implementing effective resolution plans.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years dedicated to leading large-scale ERP implementation projects.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one major ERP system (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and its modules.
• Proven experience managing projects in a fully remote environment.
• Strong understanding of business processes across finance, HR, supply chain, and operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira) and ERP implementation methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
• PMP certification is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets exceeding R5 million.
• Strong change management and training experience.
• Ability to work independently and lead dispersed teams effectively.
