Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop and run meaningful recreation and leisure activities for residents in a long-term care setting in Mississauga, Ontario. You will support wellbeing, community, and lifelong learning through tailored programs and collaborative efforts with families and volunteers.

Responsibilities include facilitating activities, documenting assessments, and updating care plans, while fostering resident engagement and staff collaboration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation or other related field.
• Enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program with the intent to complete within three years.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health care related field with experience in recreation and leisure services.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and runs recreation and leisure pursuits to promote wellbeing, purpose, creativity and community.
• Facilitates planned and spontaneous activities to support resident skills, knowledge and relationships.
• Assists in creating and maintaining engaging spaces in the home for resident activity and participation.
• Maintains good communications with residents, families, volunteers, community groups and agencies.
• Observes, reports and documents changes in residents' ability to participate and updates care plans accordingly.
