Job summary

AgeCare in Ontario is seeking a Recreation Worker to plan, develop and run a range of meaningful recreation and leisure activities that promote wellbeing, purpose, creativity and a sense of community for residents.

You will facilitate planned and spontaneous opportunities to support residents' skills, build relationships with families and volunteers, and help maintain engaging spaces and programming that reflect AgeCare's philosophy.

Qualifications

• Experience working with seniors, preferably in long-term care.
• Post-secondary education in recreation or a related field.
• Enrollment in a related program with plans to complete within three years.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and run recreation and leisure activities in the home and community.
• Support resident skills development and social connections.
• Create engaging spaces that support meaningful resident activity.
• Communicate with residents, families, volunteers and community groups.
• Observe, report and document changes in resident participation, updating plans as needed.
• Support departments to foster resident engagement.
