Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a General Manager to provide overall leadership and management of a senior living community, ensuring high-quality care and full regulatory compliance. You will oversee resident experience, financial performance, human resources, and service delivery within a values-based environment.

The role emphasizes person-centered care, compliance with regulations, budgeting, staffing, and community relations, with a focus on safe, dignified resident living and staff engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years management experience.
• Proven experience in the implementation of policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates the ability to analyze data and financial statements establishing targets and driving results.
• Thorough working knowledge and understanding of the day-to-day operation of a multi-faceted community is required.
• Strong organizational planning, directing and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively.
• Energetic and supportive leader who drives team engagement and morale while consistently leading by example.
• Demonstrates innovative and systematic thinking with a strong commitment to customer service.
• Skilled at working under pressure and balancing interruptions, tight timelines, and multiple deadlines.
• Ability to prepare and respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Knowledge of Labour and Employment Standards, including union and collective agreements, is an asset.
• Experienced in crisis intervention.
• Ability to manage and resolve difficult and challenging situations effectively and respectfully.
• Communicates in an approachable and respectful manner with the temperament to deal tactfully and cooperatively in all interactions.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to present professional documents with clarity.
• Physical and mental ability to carry out the duties of the position including adherence to provincial health legislations.
• Ability to safely operate equipment according to established protocols.
• Strong computer literacy skills required.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends and evenings and respond to on-call duties during off-hours.
• Willingness to travel to regional offices and stakeholder locations as required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and directs the daily operation of the community through an onsite leadership team to ensure that the highest quality of care and services are maintained.
• Supports and collaborates with functional managers to maintain efficient operations with the objective that the entire organization runs as an effective unit.
• Supports the delivery of quality health care services, helping to meet or exceed program goals.
• Drives results through community leadership.
• Promotes and implements community level vision, mission, values, and organizational strategies.
• Fosters a person-centered, inclusive culture that upholds dignity, safety, and well-being and recognizes those who embody our Optima Living values.
