Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Recreation Manager to lead the planning and delivery of diverse recreation programs that improve resident wellness, engagement, and quality of life. You will guide the recreation team, collaborate with interdisciplinary staff, and promote person-centered care aligned with our mission.

Responsibilities include budget oversight, program evaluation, and coordinating with volunteers and community resources to provide meaningful activities for residents and families.

Qualifications

• Graduate from Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Gerontology, Health Sciences program or diploma; or two years of relevant experience in a seniors’ home.
• Minimum of one year leadership experience in a residential care or mental health environment is required.
• Maintains a valid Class 4 driver’s license or is willing to obtain.
• Maintains an active CPR and First Aid certification.
• Maintains an active Food Safe certificate.
• Maintains an active Serving It Right certification.
• Aquatic Fitness Instructor certification as applicable.
• Knowledge of Labour and Employment Standards, including union and collective agreements, is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, support, guidance and mentorship to the recreation team.
• Oversees the recreation team through coordination of work routines to meet daily resident needs.
• Conducts and attends team meetings; serves on committees as applicable.
• Ensures team compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
• Creates a safe, pleasant, creative and inclusive recreational environment.
• Develops and evaluates programs across seven wellness dimensions.
• Maintains resident profiles and attendance records in Welbi.
• Coordinates the volunteer program and external community resources.
• Creates and updates communication tools (newsletters, posters, calendars).
• Participates in resident Care Conferences as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Coordinates Resident/Family Council as requested.
• Plans evening and weekend programs and outings.
• Operates company vehicle safely and in compliance with policies.
