Job summary

Citi is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join its Applications Development team, designing, building, and owning high‑performance Java applications that underpin critical financial services at global scale. This hands‑on role requires taking full ownership of code quality, architecture, and reliability for latency‑sensitive systems, with collaboration across analysts, project managers, and engineers.

Qualifications

5+ years of professional Java development experience, with cloud-based environments and distributed systems.
Expert-level Java, RESTful API design, and Spring/Spring Boot experience.
Relational databases (Oracle/SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB).
Cloud-native platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes) and messaging (MQ, Kafka).
Clean code, design patterns, and test-driven development practices.

Responsibilities

Design and develop high-volume, low-latency Java applications.
Architect RESTful APIs and scalable backend services using Spring and Spring Boot.
Translate complex requirements into technical specifications and architecture artifacts.
Evaluate emerging technologies to improve the stack.
Build comprehensive testing automation (unit, integration, performance).
Lead peer code reviews and maintain coding standards.
Own production systems and resolve critical issues.
Collaborate with analysts, PMs, and engineers to deliver quality software.
